Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about sessions, scheduling, and what to expect.
When do I pay for sessions?
You do not pay anything when you book. After each session finishes, you will receive a secure payment link by email. Simply pay at your convenience — no payment is required upfront, so you can book with confidence.
What platform do you use for online sessions?
We use a professional video platform with an interactive whiteboard. It is easy to use — no downloads required, just click a link.
How long is each session?
Sessions are 1 hour long. This is the optimal length to maintain focus and cover meaningful content without fatigue.
What do students need to bring?
Just a device (laptop, tablet or PC) with a camera and microphone, internet access, and a pen and paper for working things out.
How quickly will I see results?
Most students begin to feel more confident within a few sessions. Grade improvements are typically visible within 6–8 weeks of consistent attendance.
Can parents sit in on sessions?
Absolutely — especially for younger students. We believe parental involvement is a positive thing and welcome it.
Will tutoring alone improve my child's grades?
It is important to be honest: tuition alone will not fix grades. Our sessions provide expert guidance, targeted support, and proven strategies — but real improvement comes when that tuition is combined with independent practice. Students who complete the work set between sessions, revisit topics regularly, and engage actively in their own learning see by far the best results. We will support and guide every step of the way, but consistent effort outside of sessions is the key to success.
Which programme should my child choose?
For Year 7–9 students, KS3 Acceleration builds strong foundations. For GCSE students aiming for grades 4–5, Strive for 5 (Foundation) is ideal. For those targeting grades 7–9, Path to 9 (Higher) is the right fit. If you are unsure, book a session and we will help you decide during the initial assessment.
How often should sessions be?
We recommend weekly sessions for most students. This keeps momentum without overwhelming them. Closer to exams, some students benefit from twice-weekly sessions — we can discuss what works best for your child.
Do you cover all exam boards?
Yes. As an Edexcel GCSE Maths Examiner, I have deep insight into the Edexcel specification, but I am experienced across AQA, OCR, and WJEC too. Sessions are tailored to your child's specific exam board.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! Just let us know at least 24 hours before your session and we will happily reschedule at no cost. Cancellations within 24 hours may be charged at the full session rate.
